I thought I would do a single post covering the first few months of the year, since we mostly stayed in Florida. During January and February, we bounced around to places we had already visited, like Orlando, Clermont, and Vero Beach. We didn’t do too much touristy stuff since we had already been to these areas. Instead, we focused on normal day-to-day life and did some planning for what is coming later in the year.

March was a little different. We spent the entire month at a park in St. Augustine, FL. This was a new place for us, and it has a lot of history. We really liked St. Augustine and did some of the touristy stuff as well. We took a trolley ride through the historic part of town, visited the Torture Museum, toured the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, and spent some time on St. George Street checking out the shops.

We also toured the St. Augustine Distillery, which was fun, and sampled the different bourbons they make. We learned about the Datil pepper, which is apparently only grown in this area. It is definitely an interesting place.

We were also able to visit with some of Jenn’s family who live in St. Augustine. Her cousin Mike lives there with his wife Michelle, and his parents (Stephen and Sharon) stay there for the winter. We got to see them a few times. We went out to dinner, cooked pizza at the RV, and even had a Jeep ride and cookout on the beach.

Overall, we had a great time in St. Augustine and will definitely be back someday. It may be our favorite place to visit in Florida so far.
