September brings us back to Ohio. This time, we headed to East Harbor State Park on Lake Erie. We had a great stay at this park for the week we were there. The park is huge, quiet, super peaceful, and extremely well-kept. We really liked it a lot and need to return someday to explore the area more. The only thing we would do differently is choose a different site. The area we stayed in was on a hill, and we had a rough time leveling the RV. The auto level didn’t work at all because the front couldn’t go low enough. It just blew the fuse every time I tried, so I had to do it all manually. Thankfully, I was able to get it pretty level while keeping the tires on the ground.

We left Ohio and spent the next two weeks at Four Mile Creek State Park in Youngstown, NY. Our friends Dave and Emily came to visit, and we did a lot of touristy stuff at Niagara Falls on both the US and Canadian sides. We also visited Niagara-on-the-Lake in Canada, a charming little town full of wineries. This is definitely an area we’ll return to someday.
The park we stayed in was fantastic. The sites were big and level with plenty of space, and the overall feel was very peaceful. Having never stayed in a New York state park before, we were impressed. Sites are 30A power only, but water is nearby. It’s close enough to drag a hose, and there are two dump stations. For us, that’s fine. We can empty into a bladder and dump without moving the RV. The 30A power was no problem either. Our battery inverter system handles the difference when needed.

After two weeks, we moved again. This time to another NY state park: Wellesley Island State Park on Wellesley Island, part of the Thousand Islands chain. Dave and Emily followed us here and stayed for a few more days. We did more tourist stuff, including touring Boldt Castle and the Boldt Boathouse, and taking a boat ride among the islands. I think Wellesley Island State Park was every bit as nice as the other NY park we stayed in. Like the prior one, we were in a 30A electric-only site, which was no issue. This park has a very nicely maintained trail system that the dogs really enjoyed as well. We spent two weeks here. It’s such a beautiful area, and we would gladly go back.
